Dr. Trevor Wilkins is a former cop and current psychotherapist but if you’re on social media you might know him better as The Angry Viking. Trevor is a psychotherapist in private practice at Thin Line Counseling, LLC in Lexington, KY. Dr. Wilkins served 15-years in uniformed law enforcement, and the prior three years as a police dispatcher, firefighter, and emergency medical technician.  Dr. Wilkins now combines his doctoral-level education in professional counseling with his experience of dealing with traumatic scenes to provide counseling services to the members of public safety, the military, and to the members of the public that deal with trauma.  Dr. Wilkins possesses advanced training, experience, and consultant-in-training skills for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, a leading treatment modality for stress and trauma according to the World Health Organization. Dr. Wilkins holds an advanced certification in Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy from the Albert Ellis Institute in New York City. In 2015, Dr. Wilkins began the online program based on his social media brand The Angry Viking Therapist where he now treats thousands of individuals – particularly first responders – dealing with life stress.

In this episode you’ll learn:

  • The call that pushed Trevor’s mental health over the edge.
  • How his anger and stress forced him out of his law enforcement career.
  • How he recovered and decided to help other cops avoid the mistakes he made.
